The University of Applied Sciences Duesseldorf (UASD) was founded in 1975. At present about 9000 students are studying at the university in eight departments: Architecture and Design, Social Sciences and Cultural Studies, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Media and Economics.

General Information
Currently 220 appointed professors as well as two professors from a foundation are teaching at the university. The teaching is supported by 220 employees. UASD has partnerships with 40 universities worldwide and very close relationships to the industry and business, aesthetic and social institutions.

- The Process Informatics Lab (Pi-LAB) is a teaching and education laboratory for IT oriented automation technology. In this lab the students from electrical engineering and information technology course deal with Process Informatics, Man Machine Communication and Internet-based Automation.
- The Duesseldorf Telelaboratory (DT), founded in 2004, is a R&D institution for development and practical testing of new concepts of remote control technologies for complex technical systems in the industry.
The main focuses of the DT are remote labs for automation-technical training, remote engineering for web-based teleservice and remote control as well as new-media applications for the automation technology

All study courses at the University of Applied Sciences Duesseldorf in the Department of Electrotechnical Engineering:

- Electrical engineering and information technology (Master / 2 years)

Future arrangements
The Department of Electrical Engineering offers an Open Day in January every year. A lot of events provide pupils, trainees and interested teenagers with informations about their educational opportunities at the UASD.
In June 2008 (23-06-08 to 25-06-08) the department will be hosting the international conference „Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation (REV2008)“. About 120 participants from 25 countries are currently expected to participate.
