Tongji University
Tongji University, formerly Tongji German Medical School, was established in 1907 and was given its present name in 1927. According to the statistics at the beginning of academic year 2009, the total number of different kinds of students is 80,566, among which the number of graduate students is 21,093. We have a teacher team of 2,828, of which 620 are professors and 812 are vice professors.

The Institute of Vocational and Technical Education was founded in October 1994 with the approval of the state Ministry of Education. Established as the Sino-German collaboration in vocational education by both governments of China and Germany in 1993, it is also a Sino-German training center for teachers of technical and vocational education.
There are 29 teachers in total at the institute, of which 17 are professors or vice professors (8 teachers with the German Doctor Degree of Vocational Education). With a distinguished feature of Sino-German cooperation, the Institute introduces the German concepts and teaching methodology and puts an emphasis on developing students´ professional skills. Currently, the Institute offers four Bachelor degree programs and one Master degree program.
The Bachelor degree programs include Electronics and Information Engineering (for teachers of vocational education), Mechanical Engineering and Automation (for teachers of vocational education), Civil Engineering (for teachers of vocational education) and Business Administration (for teachers of vocational education).
The Master degree program is Vocational Pedagogy. Besides teaching, the Institute has established extensive links with universities, research organizations and companies at home and abroad. After years of development, the Institute has become one of the leading institutes in the area of vocational and technical education in China.
